Meet Indu Harikrishna: a powerhouse of community service in Sydney. She’s not only the President of the Sydney Community Group, a dedicated women’s initiative and not-for-profit organisation, but also a compassionate mother of two girls and a professional in the HR & Operations department of a Software Consulting Firm.
For over 15 years, Indu has been an integral part of the Blacktown City Council community. Her journey started with a simple goal to boost her resume, but it quickly evolved into a deep passion for helping others.
Despite the hurdles posed by the Covid pandemic, they stood strong and initiated impactful projects. They provided essential food hampers during lockdowns, collected sanitary donations for homeless women and domestic violence victims, supported children with incarcerated parents through book drives, raised funds for cancer patients, brought arts kits to children in hospitals, and offered support to women entrepreneurs.
Indu’s heart is deeply connected to these endeavors, and she finds joy in witnessing young individuals, including children, stepping up to help the community. She believes in the power of selfless giving and its positive impact on lives.
Being a first-generation migrant herself, she understands the challenges of starting anew in a foreign land and has made it her mission to lend a hand to fellow migrants and her broader community.
Indu’s commitment has led to the formation of the Sydney Community Group, a team of 100 strong-willed women who tirelessly work across Sydney to address various community needs.
Leading the Sydney Community Group, Indu extends an invitation to all for the Mateship Fair, a multicultural festivity arranged by a passionate team of women. This event is a symbol of their unity and commitment to the community’s welfare. Indu Harikrishna truly embodies the volunteering spirit, ceaselessly uplifting and aiding those in her midst. Her role as the group’s President showcases her unwavering commitment to creating a positive impact.
