On the 21st of January, the Women in Business (WIB) [https://www.facebook.com/womenInBusinessWIB], She Magazine, and Empowered BWB {https://www.facebook.com/empoweredbwb}community gathered at the Sydney Startup Hub for an empowering session under the ‘Inspire & Thrive’ series. This event, aimed at women professionals and entrepreneurs, provided an excellent opportunity to network, collaborate, and most importantly, learn about the art of effective communication through an engaging exercise conducted by Anshu Saxena.
The Power of Communication
The session focused on enhancing our understanding of communication dynamics, fostering transparency, and encouraging open dialogues. Anshu Saxena the founder of Australis Forever8x and Your Change Partners {https://www.linkedin.com/in/anshu-s-002603165/?originalSubdomain=au}, leveraged her expertise, guided the attendees through insightful exercises designed to highlight the significance of clear, honest, and empowering conversations in both personal and professional settings.
Key Takeaways from the Exercise:
- Transparency is Key – Communication should be open and clear to avoid misunderstandings and build trust.
- Active Listening – Engaging in meaningful conversations requires listening with intent and responding thoughtfully.
- Two-Way Feedback – Effective communication is a dialogue, not a monologue. Encouraging feedback ensures clarity and mutual understanding.
- Expression and Inclusion – Proper expression of thoughts and ensuring inclusivity were emphasized to create a safe space for all.
- Keeping it Simple – Complex messages often lead to confusion; simplicity ensures clarity and ease of understanding.
Interactive Activities:
Participants took part in various exercises such as role-playing scenarios, group discussions, and self-reflection tasks that focused on breaking down barriers in communication. Anshu’s approach was engaging and practical, making it easier for attendees to grasp and implement the lessons in real-life scenarios.
Networking and Collaboration:
Apart from the valuable communication lessons, the event provided a great platform for women to connect, share their entrepreneurial journeys, and collaborate on future projects. The environment was filled with enthusiasm, support, and a shared vision of empowering one another. Among the attendees were Ash from Ash the Soul Coach, Neesha Bhagani (owner of Narellan Post Office), Manisha, and Anshu, each bringing unique perspectives and experiences to the session.
The event also encouraged businesses to focus on their strengths and enhance the capabilities of people, striking a balance between professional growth and well-being. Held at the Sydney Startup Hub, the venue provided the perfect environment for startups and meaningful discussions. We look forward to building partnerships and collaborating on initiatives for the coaching hub.
