The Australian actor, model & D.E.I champion, Saroni Roy, is launching a powerful ‘Women, Peace & Security’ Global Agenda project, Super NaariA Period Equity Initiative on 24th September 2024

Building on the remarkable success of the MAHATMA Peace Symposium in previous years, hosted at the Parliament of NSW in 2022 and University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in 2023, this year the Saroni Roy Foundation (SRf) aims to expand the scope of the global community forum. The MAHATMA Peace Symposium 2024 will be hosted as a Cultural Diversity Collective at the Parliament of NSW on the 24th of September 2024.

SRf’s annual flagship peace conference MAHATMA Peace Symposium, an Australia-India Cultural Synergies initiative, will commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s 155th Birth Anniversary – ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ reflecting SRf’s commitment to promoting sustainable peace and socio-economic development in honour of Mahatma Gandhi’s Birth Anniversary or ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ (2nd October International Day of Non-Violence), which SRf has been commemorating every year since 2021.

In 2024, SRf’s focus will be on the ‘Women, Peace & Security’ (WPS) Global Agenda, highlighting Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of the role of women in maintaining peace and their significant contributions to peace movements worldwide. SRf believes that women are crucial in creating non-violent, inclusive, and peaceful societies, leading to sustainable and prosperous economies.

A call-to-action, the Global Peacebuilders Forum 2024 will be a panel discussion to raise public awareness about the WPS Global Agenda, and the launch of the ‘Super Naari – A Period Equity Initiative’, addressing the global peace economics crisis of period poverty. (‘Naari‘ Sanskrit origin meaning ‘Woman’).

Mahatma Gandhi’s advocacy for the participation of women in Satyagraha movements marked a significant contribution to both women’s empowerment and the promotion of peace and non-violence. His vision and writings suggest a broader participation of women in peace movements, emphasizing their unique contributions to socio-economic prosperity. This symposium will explore these themes, aligning with the Saroni Roy Foundation’s core principles of diversity, sustainability, and social justice, aiming to create a more inclusive and peaceful ‘One World’.

Protecting and respecting women’s rights to reproductive health care is essential for gender equity and for building peaceful and resilient communities. The Australian Government’s support for the human rights of women and girls and gender equality in fragile and conflict-affected contexts underscores the importance of these issues for economic and development gains, post-crisis stability, conflict prevention, and durable peace.

SRf is currently creating an alliance network of partners – government, sponsors, businesses, NGOs, media, multicultural organisations, influencers, celebrities, academia, in NSW, Australia & worldwide for advice and support in joining this campaign to inform, educate, and communicate the Global Peace Economics Crisis – Period Poverty, perpetuating equitable access to menstrual & reproductive health awareness & education, and accessibility to menstrual health products/circular product options, through the Super Naari – A Period Equity Initiative.

Through SRf’s robust network of alliance sponsors & partners in Australia and worldwide (that will help in either or both – education & awareness workshops/seminars and distribution of menstrual health products) SRf aims to sustain the Super Naari campaign for 5 years and beyond, to achieve measurable outcomes, the 1 Million Super Naari mark.

Your support would empower & democratise the Super Naari platform to create opportunities and equitable access to basic human rights for girls & women, transgender-menstruating persons, people that need it most, leading to reduced school drop-out rates, accelerated participation in sports, aviation, destigmatizing menstrual health, offering a life of dignity in vulnerable and less-privileged communities”, appeals Saroni Roy, Founder & CEO, SRf.
